FACT FILE:

Nick: Ebony. Nobody knew that, right? Just call me Ebs, or Eb. Or the "Johnny Depp-girl" as as the people in my friendly neighbourhood video rental place know me as. Anything goes.

Given name: Paula. Means "small" in Latin, so I'm aptly named.

Age: 21. Yes I know, I wouldn't believe it myself either, but it's very true.

Appearance: Short; 5 feet 2-3 inches. Dark brown hair, green eyes, eyeglasses (bloody nearsight), normal built. Your average, everyday girl, I suppose.

Personality: Quite quirky. I'm friendly and like to interact with people. I hate discord and arguments, but then I'm defending things that are important to me, you can bet I'm giving you a tough time. Rambly, as you can see. It's funny, in "real life" I'm actually quite quiet and stick to listening and observing others. Like everyone, I do have bad days once in a while, and then I tend to cuss excessively... But usually I'm a positive person and love to talk with people!

Star sign: Virgo. Yes, I'm a nagging cheapskate who likes to keep her things in compulsively neat order.

Chinese sign: Rat. The description of rat in Chinese horoscope fits my personality unlike anything I've ever seen!

Thinks herself good in: English language, I figure. I dislike praising myself, but I think drawing (well, copying, more like!) is one, too. Playing games and daydreaming, there's two more.

Knows herself to be bad in: Math of all kind, definitely. And saying "no" to people even when I should.

FAVOURITES

Drink & Food: Pepsi, water. Chicken pasta and "junk food".

Colors: Blue. Black, purple and dark green.

In TV: Alias is my number 1 favourite. Others I like are C.S.I, Late Night With Conan O'Brien, ER, South Park, Queer Eye For The Straight Guy, Las Vegas, Monk, Xena: Warrior Princess, and all kinds of nature programs.

Movies: Pirates of the Caribbean! Star Wars (E1 & Original Trilogy.), X-Men 1 & 2, Trainspotting, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Jurassic Park 1, The Lion King, The Matrix, Someone Like You, From Hell. And basicly every movie with the ever-gorgeous Johnny Depp... *innocent whistle* So I'm obsessed, but it's my obsession, alright! Deal with it.

Actors: *respectful silence* Two words. JOHNNY DEPP. I'm still in awe of this man. How can anyone be so talented and gorgeous to boot? I love Ewan McGregor and Hugh Jackman, too. Also likes Liam Neeson, Alan Rickman, David Wenham, Karl Urban, Ian McKellen, and Jeremy Piven.

Actresses: Jennifer Garner, Keira Knightley, Miranda Otto, Rachel Weisz, Ashley Judd and Cate Blanchett.

Authors: Michael Chrichton, Irvine Welsh and of course J.R.R Tolkien.

Books: "Lord of the Rings" by J.R.R Tolkien, "Silmarillion" by J.R.R Tolkien, "Jurassic Park" by Michael Chrichton, "Trainspotting", "Filth", and "Glue" by Irvine Welsh, "Brother Wolf" by Jim Brandenburg.

Bands/Artists: All-time favourite: U2. Maroon 5, Matchbox Twenty, BrainStorm (Latvian), Kwan (Finnish), Zen Café (Finnish), Poets of the Fall (Finnish), PMMP (Finnish), Kosheen, Annie Lennox, The Euryhtmics, Laura Pausini, Basement Jaxx, Linkin Park, Manic Street Preachers, Queen, Vertical Horizon, Aerosmith, and Jamie Cullum, whose music I found thanks to Loes' recommendation. :)

Fanfic/Movie/Book/TV Pairings:

- You/Jack Sparrow (Duh! This needs NO explanations... )

- You/almost any character of Johnny's (Again, duh... )

- Will/Elizabeth (PotC, obviously. Rather cute together.)

- Galadriel/Celeborn (Lord of the Rings. They're just awesome, I love the aspect of them having the longest relationship in the entire ME. Perfect example of two rather different personalities balancing one another.)

- Éowyn/Faramir (Lord of the Rings. Simply adore the whole story of two impaired people finding each other. So beautiful.)

- Princess Leia/Han Solo (Star Wars. How can one not love these?! Sparks flew everytime they met, lovely!)

- Sydney/Vaughn (Alias. Started out as agonizing forbidden love that had me in stiches for some real action. UST ahoy! This is pure soulmate stuff, love 'em.)

- Sam Taggert/Luka Kovac (ER. I dunno, I just find them cute together. Also like Carter/Abby.)

- Wolverine/Lady Deathstrike (X-Men. This pairing is still only my wishful thinking, but hell! That'd be one great couple! :D)

SOME HISTORY...

I discovered the world of fanfiction by accident, or actually my friend of that time did. We were obsessed by Star Wars Episode 1 then, so it was in 1999. She stumbled onto some SW fics and told me about it. I got interested and started to investigate the matter further. I soon found fanfiction.net and got into reading fics. Fanfiction is not nearly as well known here in Finland as it is in US. But for me, there was no turning back anymore.

Well, then one day I thought, "Hey, why not try to write a fic of my own?" I had always been good in English, so I thought I'd give it a shot, at least. So I did. I can't remember any more what my first fic was, but I can tell you it sucked so bad! I wrote in a lot of different fandoms, though most of them remained unfinished when I lost interest in the particular fandom.

Well, then in blessed year of 2003, Pirates of the Caribbean came into picture. Thank gods for that! I had no idea they were making a movie such as that until I saw the trailer for the first time in July 2003. I was shell-shocked. I stared at the trailer, and when it ended, I had two thing going through my mind; "I have GOT to see that movie!" and, "Hot damn! Who was that gorgeous man?!" (aka. Jack Sparrow) I fell in love with Jack immediately, the first thing that has ever happened to me.

I went to see the movie three times, and I would've wanted to see it often but I had no money. (Boo!) But I just loved it. It was absolutely the best movie I had ever seen, hands down. Then one day when I was working (summer job) I sneaked into Internet (bad me) and checked out of curiousity the PotC section from ff.net. I found MrsPitt's "Savvy", and I was floored and hooked. I knew I had to write my own PotC fic. So I started writing "Call of the Caribbean".

I thought I'd write this one story just for fun, there was no deeper meaning at that time. But as I wrote on and got to know my reviewers, I got hooked. I knew I was hooked, and I loved it. I loved writing PotC fics; I had found My Fandom. No other fandom had held my interest longer than maybe for half a year tops, but here I am today, going strong after, what, well over a year...? And I am nowhere near bored with the movie and the fandom, no way! I think this one here is a keeper.

And then around the end of CotC, I started thinking about the sequel where I could really test my writing skills. And so "No Quarter Given" was born. That story has given me so much blocks and frustration! I have never been challenged this much ever before! But it has also given me new friends and such utter joy of writing I cannot put it into words. It's awesome when people say "You really outdone yourself this time" after some chapter. It makes me so happy and challenges me even further.

I think I've rambled long enough, I'm sure everyone's going "Is she ever going to just shut up?" by now. Sorry. But I think this profile has served its purpose, eh? Thanks for listening my good mates, ta ta!
